Frequently asked questions
What you should know about Fungavia, in brief.
Does Fungavia guarantee finds?
No. Fungavia shows where forest, altitude and weather come together right now. That is where a search may pay off. Whether there are mushrooms, only the forest can tell. There is no guarantee of finds.
Does the app replace mushroom identification?
No. Fungavia does not identify mushrooms and says nothing about whether they are edible. Never eat a mushroom based on an app alone, and have your finds checked by a mushroom advisory service.
Can I use Fungavia offline?
Yes. Fungavia is made to work without a signal, deep in the woods. You need a connection beforehand to download the maps.
Where are my finds stored?
On your phone, encrypted. Finds, photos and routes are never uploaded automatically. Only you can create an export, and you decide who gets it.
Which regions does Fungavia cover?
South Tyrol at launch. More regions are in preparation; we will only name them when they are ready.
How much does Fungavia cost?
The planned prices are €4.99 per week or €29.99 per year, VAT included, as a subscription via Google Play. Prices are not final and may change. Joining the list is free and not a purchase.
Do I need an account?
Sign-in is planned for the subscription and map downloads. Your find locations are not part of the account. They stay on your device.
When will the app be released?
Soon on Google Play, first for Android and South Tyrol. We will announce a date as soon as it is set.
Can I forage anywhere?
No. As a general rule, South Tyrol has fixed collection days, hours, maximum quantities and a collection fee, and the province or landowners can ban foraging. What exactly applies is explained on our “Safe foraging” page. If in doubt, ask the municipality.
